Flex Day Student Expectations


 


Flex Day Student Information for Grades 6-12

Flex Days are only for grades 6-12 @ MCSC

When: Wednesday, September 21st & Wednesday, November 2nd

What will these Flex Days look like from a student’s point of view?

  • Students in grades 6-12 will have an opportunity to work off-campus on all Flex Days

  • The instruction delivery and quality will be reflective of a normal school day. Students will receive instruction via Google Classroom, while having access to their teachers via office hours. Those students that do not have access to internet will be given flexible due dates and the option to attend school that day and work in labs. All students will be given assignments for the Flex Day by Monday, Sept. 19 to ensure they understand it and are able to download the material if needed.  Student work will be due Thursday, Sept 22.  Attendance will be recorded by Teachers work completion and submission through Google Classroom.  


What if I do not have internet?

You can download your assignment in advance and complete it on Flex Day.  You can go somewhere that does have internet and complete your assignment.  Such as a friends, family members, the public library, or attend school.  Both the Middle School and the High School will be open to students if needed.

 


Flex Day- Working Off Campus

I am will be not be coming to school and I have internet or I have an alternate plan to get internet access for the day.  What do I do now?

You will complete your assignments that have been assigned for the Flex Day.  They are to be turned in by Thursday, Sept 22. If you have questions, you may contact your teacher via Google Classroom or email.  


How will teachers be directly reachable by students to facilitate and support instruction?

Teachers will have office hours - available by email, school phones (not personal), and social media. There will also be open computer labs to serve as a help desk. The help desk will include a school employee who will answer questions and coordinate student questions to the specific teacher.

What do I do if my chromebook is not working?
Make sure your chromebook is charged.
Turn it on and off.
Use another device to complete work for the day and turn in an Fsticket for the following day.
If none of these work for you, you will need to come to school on Flex Day to complete your assignments.

What do I do if I am working offline for the day?
Your work will automatically save in Google Drive and upload when you return to online status. As soon as you access internet, you will submit your work in Google Classroom. You can do this the following morning at school or during Flex Day.

What do I do I can't access a resource needed to complete assignments?
Look in your downloaded folders. (All students should have downloaded resources on Monday, Sept 19)

Flex Day- I AM Attending School

What if I do not have internet?

I am coming to school on Flex Day.  How do I get to school?

You ride your school bus as normal or you can be dropped off as a car rider.  The corporation will provide a regular busing schedule and serve school breakfast and lunch.


Where do I go once I am at school on Flex Day?

Computer labs will be open in both Libraries: MS and HS for students on Flex Days. All Middle School students will report to the Middle School Library and High School students will report to the High School library by 8:00 AM.

What do I need to bring to school on Flex Day?

If you are attending school on Flex Day, you will need to bring your normal school supplies including your charged chromebook.  


What will my day look like if I attend school?

Students will go to breakfast as usual.  Then all Middle School students will report to the Middle School Library and High School students will report to the High School library.  Students will complete a normal school day virtually through the use of their chromebook.  Students will work quietly in the labs to complete all assignments.  Scheduled breaks and lunch will be given on that day.   Students will have already received their assignments on Monday, Sept. 19 to ensure they understand them. All work will be due Thursday, Sept 22.  Attendance for the day will be recorded by Teachers determined by work completion and submission through Google Classroom.  


  • Teachers will have scheduled virtual “class” time to connect and help students in a digital workspace. Contact times are listed above.

  • Computer labs will be open in both the MS and HS libraries for students on Flex Days

  • Student attendance will be counted via work completion


What do I do if my chromebook is not working?

You will get a loaner chromebook for the day or use a desktop in the computer lab.
